Mathematical Artifical Intellegience (MAI) may help make these decisions with the aide of a Calculus Level Language. A user provides the following:

  • Business Math Model: show connection between all departments, work tasks, control parameters, and performance output.
  • Business Objective/Goal: breifly state goal in terms of Maximize 'this' and Minimize 'that' statements ... fewer words the better.

What assets to Buy | Sell | Hold; plant(s), product lines, products?

Good MAI based software can be of great help in answering these questions. Keep an updated list of your business needs; update daily, monthly, or whenever need be.

Oil Production Example will be the next article to 'visualize' building a Business Strategy model. An Operations Research backgrounds may be helpful to understand such a model. War-gaming will use this model to answer your Business questions.

For example, an oil company may have many different distillation processes going on at each of its refineries. Each time new crude oil arrives at a refinery, or one distillation unit goes in or out of service, a new tweaking of all distillation parameters must be done in order to maximize the company’s product inventory and profit.
